HPE GreenLake for Compute delivers HPE Compute and HPE ProLiant servers as a service. Instead of buying servers outright, you get a complete, workload-optimized system that HPE installs at your data center or edge and manages for its full lifecycle, and you pay a monthly bill based on the capacity you actually use.
You are billed monthly on metered usage — for example at the unit level per server or per virtual machine. Every configuration ships with extra buffer capacity so you can scale up the moment you need it, and you are not billed for that buffer until you use it. You do commit to a reserved minimum capacity that is billed each month regardless of usage.
Buying servers outright is a capital expense: you pay for all the capacity up front, own the hardware, and manage its lifecycle yourself. HPE GreenLake for Compute delivers the same infrastructure as a service — there is no large upfront capital outlay, costs shift to a monthly operating expense, and HPE installs, owns, and manages the equipment for you.
